If you're over there, don't go over *there*

You are on my right.
Someone else is on my left.

If you can’t find space on my right, then you’re not working hard enough. Do not be tempted to flit across to the left. Please! Why not?

1. If you do get the ball, you’ll get it moving away from the post and not even in space
2. You and your defender will ruin whatever it was I had going on, as well as anything the person on my left was doing
3. I now have nobody on my right

None of this can be good. So just stay on the right and veer better!

Don't Expect the Ball Back

If you’re not feeding, and you didn’t throw a move to lose your defender before you passed me the ball: don’t expect it back straight away. What would be the point? One of three things will happen: your defender will intercept; you will receive the ball running at (but not past) your defender; you will receive the ball further from the post than I am, and not even in space either.

So give me the ball and let the ball travel around a pass or two: spend the time busting a move to get some space so that you can do something interesting once the ball gets back to you.
